Five Parts of the Financial System

2- Financial Instruments
3- Financial Markets
4- Financial Institutions
5- Central Banks

1. Money

Money is used as a means of purchasing goods and services. It is also a standard unit of measurement and operates as a value store. However, money may not be a good value chain as it loses value through inflation.

2. Financial Instruments

Financial Instruments are legal obligations that give another person the ability to receive payments or part of an asset from another party. Examples of financial instruments that can be traded include loans, shares, and bonds.

3. Financial Markets

Financial Market is a place or network where financial instruments can be traded quickly and easily.

4. Financial Institutions

Financial Institutions are companies that connect borrowers and lenders, giving custodians and borrowers access to financial tools and markets. There are two types of financial markets – the primary market and the secondary market.

5. Central Banks

Central Banks are large financial institutions that manage public finances, regulate lending, and act as banks in commercial banks.
