MGMT629: Crisis Management
Difference Between Conflict and Crisis
Conflict
“We can predict the resolution of disputes as a situation in which the opposing parties enter into an agreement which resolves their internal disputes, accepts the continuance of each other as parties, and eliminates all acts of violence against each other. This means that, of course, conflict resolution is something that comes after a conflict. It means we first need to have concepts and tools for conflict analysis. This is about conflict theory. It is about groups that accept each other’s progress as groups.
Crisis
“This use of the word (disaster) is one reason why language is so pervasive. Equally important is that it can be used to describe so many different situations. It is possible, for example, to talk about an emotional problem or a financial problem; the former was probably reduced to the latter at some point. Moreover, the term can be used equally at the international level as at each level. The problem of capitalism, the catastrophe of civilization, the problem of power, and the problem of nature are all words used in relation to problems that are global or near the world. In addition to the wide variety, however, disasters appear to vary greatly over time.
Thus, one prominent historian described international politics during the war as the ‘Twenty-Year Crisis’, while to some analysts the term refers to a closed event or situation in a very short period of time, and is measured in days or weeks rather than years. The fact that the word is so expansive in its interpretation is certainly a factor in its enthusiastic acceptance. ”
Levels Of Crisis
Problems have no limits, no boundaries, and no deadlines. As we go through the explanations and the concept of difficulty, it happens suddenly, quickly, and in a shocking way. It does not provide enough warning to respond or turn to stereo management. Problems are also not bound by any area of life, time, or any other natural and unnatural state. They can happen at any time, at any level, and in any field/area. Some of the levels are briefly discussed below.
Individual Level.
Man and the planet have been connected since the creation of the universe. They are not separate from each other. Man lives his life on many levels and nature rules everywhere, at all levels. The two basic levels of human health are the level of the individual and the level (of a member of human society). It is a miracle that most people end their lives on this earth without defining any purpose in life. They struggle with the spirit of desires, emotions, and circumstances. There may be a number of people armed with a vision for the future and a long-term plan to achieve the goal they clearly set out. Most people do not do that.
Collective/Organizational Level
Problems occur at a cohesive level. The integrated level includes an organizational level; it could be a social system, an industrial group, a large business organization, a university, a small market or a smart or political organization where a number of people or stakeholders, own a diverse portfolio. There may be a number of factors that can cause problems at these levels e.g., personnel, finance, management, technical problems, unusual occurrences, etc.
Geographic Level.
Geography plays a very important role in human life. Life cannot exist without water, oxygen, food, and shelter. If there is something wrong with the normal activities of nature, there will be problems. The weather, climate, and natural disasters can cause even uncontrollable problems. A volcano, a blizzard, a hurricane, heavy floods, heavy rains, and unusual winters or summers can all create more serious problems.
