EDU403: Art, Crafts, and Calligraphy

Art is the process of imitating something with great honesty. It reduces the use of look, accuracy and aesthetics. There is no space for conversion. A work of art is an accurate picture of something. EDU403 Handouts pdf

What is Art?

The meaning of art has changed over time and varies according to the context; anything can be made into art, and the word continues to emerge. The nature of art has been described by philosopher Richard Wollheim as “one of the most mysterious problems of human culture”. Art is defined as a vehicle for expressing or communicating emotions and ideas, a way of exploring and appreciating legitimate elements through them, and as imitation or representation.

Art is, very simply, a means of communication. It refers to whatever the artist himself intends to say, and the meaning is shaped by the objects, techniques, and genres, as well as the ideas and feelings that he expresses to the viewer. Anything can actually be art, and the word continues to emerge.

Art as Communication

Art is the way in which ideas and feelings are conveyed to the viewer or listener in terms of both durability and quality. Artwork is an example of a message with an understandable code due to shared responses.

What is Communication?

The field of communication focuses on how people use messages to generate meaning within and across all contexts, cultures, channels and the media. Discipline promotes practical and ethical communication skills. Communication is a multidisciplinary field that includes research conducted by social scientists, human beings, and academics.

Art as Self Expression

Art is the way in which a person’s knowledge or attitude is expressed in a way that satisfies the artist. Communication can be seen as a product. A work of art is a metaphor for the experience. Self-description is taking an inner force – a personal perspective – and knowingly putting it into an external context.
